ORDINANCE NO. 463

AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF SOUTH PRAIRIE, PIERCE COUNTY, WASHINGTON AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 51 TO INCREASE THE SALARY OF FUTURE MAYORS AND TOWN COUNCIL MEMBERS.

Whereas, Ordinance No. 51, passed October 7, 1969, established the salary of the Mayor at $60.00 per year and Town Council members at $5.00 per meeting, and

Whereas, time demands on the Mayor and Town Council members have increased significantly to properly attend to Town business, and

Whereas, the increase in salary shall only affect future Mayors and Council members.

Now, therefore, the Town Council of the Town of South Prairie, Pierce County, Washington do hereby ordain as follows:

Section 1: Ordinance No. 51 is amended as follows: The salaries of certain officers of the Town of South Prairie shall be as follows: The Mayor shall receive a salary of $40.00 per month. Each Town Council member, hereinafter elected, shall receive a salary of $25.00 per month, per meeting attended, for not more than one Council meeting each calendar month.

Section 2: If any provision of this ordinance, or Ordinance No. 51 is determined to be invalid or unenforceable for any reason, the remaining provisions shall remain in force and affect.

Section 3: This ordinance shall not increase the salaries of the Mayor or Council member currently holding office, unless re-elected in the future.

Section 4: This ordinance shall take affect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law.
