ORDINANCE NO. 456
AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF SOUTH PRAIRIE, PIERCE
COUNTY, WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN TAX LEVY FROM 2004 TO 2005 OF 1%
AND SETTING FORTH FACTS.
Whereas, the
Town established a budget for 2005, and
Whereas, a
public hearing was held, and
Whereas, the expenses incurred by the Town to continue the
level of service have increased in excess of 1% from 2004, and
Whereas, the Town desires to attempt to achieve the same level
of service to its citizens, and
Whereas, the level of service is necessary for continued
public health, safety and welfare, and
Whereas, the Town determined that the Town requires a
regular levy in the amount of $54,497, which includes an increase in property
tax revenue from the previous year, and amounts resulting from the addition of
new construction and improvements to property, and increase in the value of
state assessed property, and amounts authorized by law as a result of any
annexations that have occurred and refunds made in order to discharge the
expected expenses and obligations of the district and in its best interests.
Now, therefore, the Town
Council of the Town of South Prairie, Pierce County, Washington do ordain as
follows:
Section 1: That an
increase in the regular property tax levy is hereby authorized for the 2005
levy in the amount of $532.40 which is a percentage increase of 1% from the
previous year.
Section 2:,
That an increase in the EMS tax levy is hereby authorized for the 2005 levy in
the amount of $93.25 which is a percentage increase of 1% from the previous
year.
Section 3: The above
increase is exclusive of additional revenue resulting from the addition of new
construction and improvements to property and any increase in the value of
state assessed property, and any additional amounts resulting from any
annexations that have occurred and refunds made.
Section 4: A certified
copy of this ordinance shall be transmitted by the Town Clerk to the Pierce
County Assessor and such other governmental agency as required.
Section 5: If any
provision of this ordinance is determined to be invalid or unenforceable for
any reason, the remaining provisions shall remain in force and affect.
Section 6: This ordinance shall take effect
and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and
publication as required by law.
