ORDINANCE NO. 447

AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF SOUTH PRAIRIE, PIERCE COUNTY, WASHINGTON ADOPTING THE 2003 INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL CODE, THE WASHINGTON STATE AMENDMENTS, FUTURE AMENDMENTS TO THE INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL CODE, FUTURE WASHINGTON STATE AMENDMENTS, AND REPEALING PRIOR ORDINANCES DEALING WITH THE RESIDENTIAL CODE THAT ARE INCONSISTENT WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE CODE ADOPTED HEREIN AND FURTHER ADOPTING TABLE R301.2(1) CLIMATIC AND GEOGRAPHIC DESIGN CRITERIA.

Whereas, a revised revision has been promulgated for residential codes entitled the 2003 edition of the International Residential Code, and

Whereas, the State of Washington has made certain amendments thereto, and

Whereas, the Town desires to keep current with the code and therefore adopts future amendments to the International Residential Code and the Washington State amendments, and

Whereas, the 2003 edition of the International Residential Code provides for regulating and governing the construction, alteration, movement, enlargement, replacement, repair, equipment, location, removal and demolition of detached one and two family dwellings and multiple single family dwellings not more than three stories in height with separate means of ingress, providing for the issuance of permits and the collection of fees, and

Whereas, prior ordinances dealt with the same topic of the 2003 edition and those provisions require repeal, and

Whereas, the adoption of the latest International Residential Code is essential for the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens, and

Whereas, the 2003 edition of the International Residential Code is consistent

with the Comprehensive Plan and has no adverse environmental affect, and

Whereas, copies of the code are available as set forth by law for public

inspection.

Now, therefore, the Town Council of the Town of South Prairie, Pierce

County, Washington do ordain as follows:

Section 1: The 2003 edition of the International Residential Code, Washington

State amendments, future amendments to the 2003 International Residential Code and Washington State amendments, and the amendments noted in the attached Exhibit "A"

are hereby incorporated by reference as if set out in full.

Section 2: Ordinances that are inconsistent with the 2003 edition of the

International Residential Code, or provisions therein are hereby repealed.

Section 3: The following sections of the code adopted herein are hereby

revised as follows:

Section R101.1: Town of South Prairie

Table R301.2(1): Table R301.2(1) Climatic and Geographic Design Criteria is

hereby attached and incorporated by reference as if set out in full.

Section P2603.6.1: 18 inches and 18 inches. Section P3103.1: 6 inches and 12 inches.

Section 4: If any provision of this ordinance, the 2003 edition of the

International Residential Code, Washington State amendments, or later amendments

thereto, are determined to be invalid or unenforceable for any reason, the remaining provisions of this ordinance, the 2003 edition of the International Residential Code,

Washington State amendments, and future amendments shall remain in force and affect.

Section 5: This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law
